Today I bring you this amazing DIY Woodhill Hall Wedding. Anna and Daniel had the most amazing day having travelled up to Northumberland from London. Here is the story of their stunning day in the sun!
I’ve always said that Woodhill Hall is a special venue. And since the refurbishment at the start of 2016 it has got even more special. With Anna and Daniel, they decorated everything themselves. And it added such a beautiful personal touch. More of that later.
So the day of the wedding. A rare day for 2016 in that it wasn’t raining. The sun was shining and there were a few clouds in the sky. As I pulled up at the Hall, the first thing I saw were the chairs all set up outside ready for the ceremony. At the top of the steps on the terrace was a stunning floral archway in front of which Anna and Daniel would exchange vows.
Across the rooms in the courtyard, the bridal prep was taking place. In the Coach House the make up was being sorted with Anna and her bridesmaids. Across the way in Bessies Room the hairdresser was working her magic. In between flitting from Coach House to Bessie’s, the bridesmaids stopped to sit in the sun and sip on prosecco. With hair and make-up done, everyone paused to take a breath, have a drink and enjoy the warmth of the sun.
As the time to move for the ceremony got closer the nerves started to kick in. Anna was escorted to the dining room ready to make her way through to the Orangery and out to the Terrace. It was so peaceful out there. The swallows were swopping about and tweeting away. As Anna headed down the steps Daniel turned and immediately turned away to hide his tears.
After the ceremony everyone tucked in to canapés and fizz. It was sunglasses and smiles everywhere. We headed off to get some shots done around the grounds before Anna and Daniel disappeared back into the crowd, mingling with their family and friends.
In the teepee where the wedding breakfast was to take place, the tables and teepee was set. Everything was designed and created by Anna and it looked absolutely outstanding. As the guests headed into the teepee to take their seats they all gasped in amazement. Through the speeches Daniel kept thanking Anna for what she had done and reminding people of how much work she had put in creating everything in the teepee.
After the speeches, everyone headed out to allow the teepee to be turned around. The band set up and as they finished off their soundcheck, the DJ began setting up. He had tunes blasting out as the guests began filing back in ready for the first dance. The band began playing and with everyone around them, Anna and Daniel swayed back and forth before everyone joined them on the dancefloor.
And that was the end of an amazing day. This wasn’t just a wedding. It was a celebration and party. To be honest it was a shame to head away because it looked like it was going to be a party to end all parties.
Thank you Anna and Daniel! What a day!
